La Canada is located in a small valley (Crescenta Valley) and has to deal with pests from the San Rafael Hills in the South and the San Gabriel Mountains to the North. Another large issue is that many homes have septic tanks and if they are not maintained properly, they back up and create drain or moth fly infestations. Also, we see a lot of large flies because of horse property.
