Fleas are parasites that require blood meals from a host to survive. There are many species of fleas, the most common ones to infest are cat fleas and then after that, dog fleas. Even though they are named the after specific hosts you can find these fleas on just about any animal. Fleas prefer to feed on animals but when hungry will bite humans for a blood meal.
